A special Mother’s Day message by Pastor Gale Miller from 2 Kings 4:1-7.

The choir was all men this morning in honor of mothers. They sang “I’m Feeling Fine”, “Child of the King” and “So Much To Thank Him For” and special music was provided by former Kingdom Heirs singer Billy Hodges, who sang “He Touched Me”, “I Owe It All To Him” and more.

Main Scripture: 2 Kings 4:1-7, Genesis 3:16-20

This mother knew where to go in time of need.

This mother found the answer to her need was right at home.

This mother discovered the power of obedience.

This mother knew where to go in time of need. (2 Kings 2:21-25)

Kids need good Christian moms. The widow in this story was a single mom with two kids, suffering under the weight of heavy debts she couldn’t repay. She was desperate and needed help. (2 Kings 4:1)

This mother found the answer to her need was right at home. (2 Kings 4:2)

She gave a negative answer. We forget how good we have it.

Oil in this story represents the anointing of the Holy Spirit. She had enough.

This mother discovered the power of obedience. (2 Kings 4:3-7)

Other examples:

Moses (Exodus 5:14)

David (1 Samuel 17:47-51)

Hungry crowd (John 6:1-13)

The Spirit of God will overflow in your life. Don’t just go through the motions at church. You’re missing the power of God if that’s all you’re doing!

Satan wants to take your kids from you and destroy them. As a parent you need to protect them spiritually as well as physically.

But if you’re not saved, you can’t experience this. Here’s how to be saved.

“I Am The Light of the World”, a Sunday evening message by Pastor Gale Miller from John 8:1-12.

The NCBC choir begins the service with “Standing By The River”. The sermon begins at 3:33.

Light brings knowledge of our needs

Light brings hope to the hopeless

Light brings direction to those who are delivered.

Three places the finger of God is mentioned in the Bible:

Exodus 31:18

Daniel 5:5

John 8:6

Light brings knowledge of our needs

Light brings hope to the hopeless

Luke 1:78

Luke 2:32

Even after we’re saved, sometimes God needs to clean us up.

John 1:4-5

John 10:10

The adulteress gets a pardon. Don’t let a past lifestyle control you.

Light brings direction to those who are delivered.

John 8:11-12

1 John 1:7

Pastor Gale Miller talks about three challenges from God given in Mark 8:34-38 in this message from the May 6, 2012 morning service entitled “Answering the Call”. God is still calling. Will you answer?

But first, the NCBC choir starts out the service with Joy On The Other Side Of Jordan, What A Lovely Name and Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me. The choir is followed by special piano music by Hannah Collins – Glorious Day at 16:39. Sermon begins at 21:07.

A Challenge To Forget Self

A Challenge To Full Surrender

A Challenge To Follow Him

Jeremiah 33:3

A Challenge to Forget Self – Mark 8:34-35

“Let him deny himself”. We’re always trying to receive instead of giving. We can’t be first. God needs to be first (Colossians 1:18). We want what we don’t deserve (Mark 10:35).

Matthew 6:33

Colossians 1:15-17

Mark 10:35-40

A Challenge to Full Surrender – Mark 8:34

“Let him take up his cross”

Luke 22

Mark 8:31-33

Hebrews 12:1,2,44

Philippians 2:8

Acts 5:1-11

A Challenge to Follow Him – Mark 8:34

“Let him…follow me”. Faith walk.

John 10:27-30

John 14:17

Church attendance (Hebrews 10:25 – Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of someis; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.)

Read your Bible, study and apply what you learn (2 Timothy 2:15 – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.)

Be a witness for the cause of Christ (Luke 14:23 – And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.)

Pray (Matthew 7:7-8 – Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.)

Tithe (Malachi 3:8 – Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.)

Guest preacher David Atkins gives the message on this Youth Sunday – “Where is the Altar of God?“, taken from 1 John chapter 5, verse 21 and 2 Kings chapter 16, the story of King Ahaz.

Our choir begins the service with Sweet Beulah Land, Jesus is Coming Soon, Lord Lead Me On and I Thank My Savior For It All. The message begins at 15:35.

Scripture referenced:

1 John 5:21

Exodus 20

2 Kings 16:4

Jonah 2:8

Ezekiel 36

Notes:

God doesn’t want our attention to be diverted from Him.

King Ahaz lived a life of contradiction. He worshiped idols and tried to worship God at the same time. (2 Kings 16)

Has some other altar replaced the altar of God in your life?

Ahaz suffered because of this mistake. We need to learn from Ahaz’s mistake.

Where is the altar of God in our lives? Have we put it away in the closet, waiting until we think we need it?

They that cling to idols forfeit the grace and mercy that could be theirs.

Ezekiel 36 explains God’s offer for those who put away their idols.
